Alex has turned one recently. I really love my son and even though he refuses to sleep and eat at times but he's really precious to hubb and me. :) I am still total breastfeeding him for the time being but will slowly transit to a night feed of formula milk.
For personal reason, I'm closing this Vox blog. Friends who are still reading this, please email me for my new web URL which I will be setting up shortly (or not that short).

He doesn't like
- do his business in his potty :(
- big man. He was so scared of my cell group leader. A man who's big built and 1.83m tall!
- the porridge I cook anymore so much so he went on food strike. :(
Took the little one out today to MacDonalds to have our breakfast. I am feeling under the weather and thought the fresh air will do him some good. I tried the $2.50 meal with the "premium coffee" and he had his usual fruit + cereal. While I ate/tweet, he played with another set of parent who kept saying he's so cute and their kid had the attention halved. :p Alex loves being in MacD which makes me wonder why all kids fall prey to MacDonalds. Heh.
After my breakfast, I brought him to the MacD playground where he had a whale of time exploring the playground. He doesn't know how to play yet but he already loves this sort of play area. Are all kids the same?
Then we went to the library and I borrowed some books for us. I always made it a point to borrow books in two languages for him and one especially about God or love. :) I also borrowed yet another potty training book coz now he can understand that the potty is for poo-ing and ha twice done the deed twice in it with the diaper on. This mommy is quite proud and also bemoaning she has no life. Lolz.

Who's this strange fella behind me?
I had a total of 2 interviews last month. I thought the interviews went well and I was feeling quite confident, but I haven't hear from either companies since. :| See how things go lah.
Recently there's 2 things about the wee one that exasperates me. He refused to eat and before this food strike episode, my mil kept saying that he's shrinking. The two things are not related. I reckon he is teething or bored of his diet, so I changed his diet. He might be bored with the multigrains porridge. I changed the grains to jasmine rice and now sushi rice and he's eating again and even more. He can finish 8oz of porridge in a meal. Then I make sure he sleeps more. Bingo, can feel him getting heavier every other day.
Regarding my mil... 2 Fridays ago, we had to attend hubb's aunt's art exhibition, so I took him to my mil to help out while I can go home and prepare for the event. Since she was harping on his size, she gave him a huge chunk of fish on top of what I have cooked for him. When I picked up Alex, he threw up on me and I went to the event reeking of fish. Eversince I started my food/sleep strategy, she has stopped mentioning about his size coz I am sure she can feel the difference in weight too. Good lah. I like my son to be chubby, but I reckon there is nothing to worry about him so I am not worried at all. Comments about his size, I will take it as input, but I just don't like to be nagged at and even be undermined whether I am doing a good job as a mother.

I'm finally on twitter. Follow me~ Is it twittering or twitting? It's pretty addictive, I must say. Made 11 updates just today and that's discounting the time I was busy and out and about.
Are you still following me? I have an interview tomorrow! Whoppee! It's a good piece of news after feeling like giving away Alex. Yes, my cute little boy who's not cute at all when he refuses to eat or sleep.
Yesterday I drove on my own for the first time ever and of course Alex was with me. He was giggling and peering at the driver's seat when I put him in the car seat. I thought he must be expecting daddy to pop up suddenly. So he was sitting comfortably in his Fa-lah-li car seat and wondering what and why mommy was in the front.
I had a friend to come and taught me driving earlier this week. He said my standard can't hit the malls yet. :< But I agree with him. I have little confidence in driving (no thanks to hubb) and I don't drive much. My problem is I focused too much on the techniques and I tend to grip hard at the steering wheel whenever I'm driving. "You must feel the car..." or so my shifu said. I think the subtext here is "be one with the car..."?!
Back to my driving adventure, Alex and I didn't explore around Singapore, or rather we just went to the town center. *anti-climax* Haha. I didn't want to stress myself and planned a short trip. I was thinking to go to the library, hit AMK hub and head back home within 2 hours. My plan didnt work out...
I parked at the open-air car park near the library. I decided I'm not going to park at the mall, since the downward drive to the car park has many sprial turns and that's something I will conquer in next week's lesson with shifu. Overcast sky. Nice weather. I pushed Alex in a pram and we leisurely strolled there. Little did I know that it would start raining as soon as I stepped into the mall. I had to wait out the rain or howelse I can manage to put baby, pram and shoppings into the car?! By the time it was near evening and the rain is still pouring hard, I had no choice and started making my way back to the car. TG that the rain ceased when I was near our car!
Today I drove to Bishan Park, and then around AMK in evening traffic. Woo hooo! Overall, I did quite well. Give myself 6/10. I still let go of my clutch too soon but I didn't scratch the car. Didn't kena horned. I didn't stall the engine and I parked quite straight with one try. =) So yeah to me! Next week I will learn more about parking then I can conquer Singapore! =)
Very late with this milestone update. Alex woke up at 6+ yesterday morning and wanted to play! He napped for abt an hour around 11pm and 10 mins in the late afternoon. -_- I just spent one hour making him nap. This kid got sleeping issue!
Very busy these days. I have an interview this afternoon!

- tired of these sounds, the "hello hello" and the ICQ "uh-oh". which used to tickle him so.
- well sough-after. He already has a betrothed but recently hubb's ex-colleague wanted Alex to be her girls' bf!
Can any kind soul provide some advice? Alex has major sleep problems and is causing my hair to fall out (really!)
1. He can forgo naps
Whenever we are out, he will not sleep. At the most he sleeps during travelling times in the car and for a short while. He is a curious boy who doesn't want to miss out on things but I would prefer him to sleep more. At home, I will try to make him sleep 2-2.5 hrs after he wakes up. Most times he will rub his eyes so I know he's sleepy. Last nite he was awake for 2 hrs, flipping and flopping all over us (it hurts when his iron head strikes!) and he didnt sleep from 6+ onwards. My MIL was here to babysit and she too tried to make him sleep (her method is another story) but failed to do so too. Half way through his lunch, he couldn't take it and then finally wants to sleep. I don't know how he can withstand only 6hrs of sleep and still refuses his nap. He is much skinnier now and it pains my heart. :(
2. He wakes up shortly after he falls asleep
No matter how tired he is, he will wake up a short while after he falls
asleep and cried on the top of his voice. Like he is the last man on Earth. I think he feels insecure and wants to be cuddled to sleep but I
don't have the time to do so! Making him sleep is such a chore and can take a long time. This explains why I am seldom online.
3. He now wants to sleep with us.
We are already practising co-sleeping. His cot is just beside our bed. Whenever he wakes up for his 2X nightly feeds, he will resist being put back into the cot and will instantly sleep if I put him inbetween.
He's doing a no.2 now. GTG. Help me!
I have pretty much bring Alex out on my trusty kahs (legs) and taking the public transport (I seldom take cabs). Come Feb, this gonna change coz hubb has finally relented to let me use our car! He uses the park and ride scheme now, so the car is collecting dust at the public car park during the day and I bring Alex out during the day. It's just not efficient.
My driving is not that great. I stall the car on the average of 3 times each time I drive. I adjust my steering too sharply. I don't have any much experience with parking yet. Well, I only get to drive under hubb's supervision once every Sunday which means I don't get enough practice. I have been telling him I need to drive more to gain more experience and he must stop yelping at me. It doesn't do anything for my confidence. Haiz.
I don't believe I suck at driving a manual car. Like I said, it's a matter of experience. I will also ensure I won't be one of those drivers which other drivers will exclaim, "wah lau eh, you see lah, I know it! Cha bor driver!". If Yan can cook, I can drive. Ok, it doesn't sound right and I watch too much of the Asian Food channel)
In the minor scheme of things, I already know where I'll go for our first trip out! SBW mall! Daiso! *winks winks* lol!
